I’m Tanya Heidrich, an editorial, branding and digital designer with over 10 years of experience.

I have a BFA in Graphic Design from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and worked for a design agency and an educational technology startup before launching into freelancing. I have a special affinity for editorial, print and branding design, though my work and skills expand across a variety of areas including packaging, environmental graphics, web design, and UI.

Raised in Switzerland, educated in the US and now living in Spain, I’m comfortable working in English, French and Spanish, across time zones and cultures.

I’m also a muralist, illustrator and pattern designer under the pseudonym Stillo Noir, which helps me bring a unique touch of illustration and experiential thinking to design projects!

Natural Areas Conservancy

Editorial design and infographics for the NAC’s 2023 annual report. Using existing brand guidelines, I created a new template that brought the report to life through color, infographics and a versatile grid layout.

Johns Hopkins International Arts + Mind Lab

Editorial design for ChildArt Magazine, which seeks to make science fun and accessible for children. I was commissioned by Johns Hopkins to develop a new visual system for the 42 page publication using photo editing, editorial design and illustration.

 

 


Thread

Editorial design of a 28-page annual report, for a non-profit which connects youth to a network of volunteers that help them thrive. This project entailed developing a new template and visual system, as well as editorial design, infographics and photo editing.

 

 


Simple Kitchen

For my thesis in Graphic Design, I wrote, designed, photographed and illustrated a 36 page recipe book aimed at helping young adults learn the basics of cooking.

 

 


Open Society Institute-Baltimore

Editorial design for ‘Audacious Thinking’, an 18-page quarterly newsletter which focuses on creating transformative change on a local level. Created while working at Mission Media.

A compilation of logos created for clients across industries including health and wellness, education, finance, scientific research and hospitality.

 

 


Avo

Branding for a financial tech startup which merges health and wellness with financial benefits. The project involved developing a new logo and visual system, print collateral (including business and credit cards), web design and UI design for the company’s application.

 

 


Ojas

Branding for a small business which offers wellness products and services. The rebrand involved
developing a new logo and visual system, print collateral (such as brochures, business cards and pamphlets), and ongoing campaign designs for various holidays. Created while working at Mission Media.

 

 


Scented Treasures

Branding and packaging design for a scented candle company. Upon developing a new logo and visual system for the brand, I created a collection of packaging designs for 8 different scents by editing historic botanical illustrations on the public domain.

 

 


Avaaz

A digital and print campaign to get out the vote in Germany for the 2024 European Parliamentary elections. It features 13 national celebrities alongside a slogan that translates to “Voting is like brushing your teeth. If you don't do it, they turn brown!” – a reference to Germany’s cultural association of the color brown with fascism. The campaign took place throughout the country on urban and highway billboards, subway banners and across social media.
